Final Fantasy V

The free spirit adventurer Bartz is drawn into a mission to save the Crystals from destruction along with a princess, an amnesiac old man, and a pirate captain in hopes of uniting two worlds and stopping the return of an ancient evil.

The Story

An adventurer, a princess, a pirate and an amnesiac geriatric stumble into a rapid race across the world to stop the destruction of the four elemental crystals that maintain the balance of their world, and unbeknownst to them keeps a great evil known as Exdeath sealed away.

However, when that evil breaks loose, the heroes must pursue to another world, where they find another war against the Exdeath continues to wage in vain as the fiend completes his master plan to fuse the two worlds and open the path to the void, where the power of an ancient warlock awaits for the claiming.

The Characters

Bartz: A freelance adventurer who travels the land with his companion chocobo: Boco. He comes from the town of Lix, but left after his mother and father died. His lineage holds a secret that ties him to the central conflict of the story.

Lenna: The princess of the kingdom of Tycoon. As a member of the royal family, she has a connection to beasts – especially wind drakes.

Galuf: An amnesiac elderly man who was found next to a crashed meteorite. In truth, he comes from another world to stop the resurrection of Exdeath, who was sealed away on this world by Galuf and his companions – the Dawn Warriors – thirty years ago.

Faris: A pirate captain who is able to sail the seas even after the Water Crystal is corrupted thanks to their bond with their sea drake Syldra. They are actually Lenna’s older sister and the missing other princess of Tycoon who was raised as a man to blend in with the pirates that raised them.

Krile: Galuf’s granddaughter and the one holding the fort back on Galuf’s home world. She can speak with animals but has a distinct fondness for moogles.

Cid & Mid: The famed engineering duo of the elderly Cid and his grandson Mid. They help the party repair, build, and design new forms of transportation and accessing the lost technology of Ronka that lies buried beneath the earth.

Ghido: An ancient turtle who is both a wise consul as well as a powerful warrior. He was the original jailer of Exdeath, the mentor of the Dawn Warriors, and a jaded advisor to this newest generation of Warriors of Light. He’s not terrible fond of Bartz.

The Dawn Warriors: A quartet of warriors who defeated Exdeath thirty years ago after he broke free on their world. They then took Exdeath to another world and sealed him away again using the power of the crystals on that world. Three members, including Galuf, returned home but one remained to watch over Exdeath and to help that world should the evil ever re-emerge.

Gilgamesh: One of Exdeath’s generals. While a master of weapons and a lethal warrior, he is also a goofball who eventually warms up to Bartz and company. Gilgamesh is a reoccurring character in the franchise like Cid, but unlike Cid he’s always the same incarnation who is just bumbling through the Interdimensional Rift to other games’ universes.

Exdeath: A powerful warlock who seeks the power of the void. He is the physical manifestation of an old tree that was used to seal away evil spirits. He is seemingly impossible to destroy so he has been defeated and sealed away multiple times throughout history.
