This is the central hub for my current ongoing project to replay through and experience the entirety of the Final Fantasy franchise, starting from the very first game and playing through as many of the titles as I can feasibly get my hands on.
On this page, you will find links to all the individual posts where the edited videos have been posted on Final Fantasy Fridays as well as links to the Stream Archive over on YouTube where the entire unedited sessions of play are hosted. That way you can join along with the experience in whatever fashion you would prefer.
So come along and join me, won’t you? Let us walk in the light of the Crystals!

Final Fantasy I
Four Warriors of Light appear suddenly in the city of Cornelia, each gripping a dim crystal in hand. From the simple beginnings of saving the princess from the Dark Knight Garland, they will begin a journey to save the world and break a cycle that has trapped the world for eons.

Final Fantasy II
Four youths from the Kingdom of Fynn flee their homeland in the wake of an invasion by the forces of the Empire of Palamecia. Their journey will lead them to join an underground rebellion to repel the Emperor’s forces and reclaim the throne for the royal family. With a rotating cast of fourth party member, a radically different leveling system, and featuring a number of ‘first appearances’ of iconic Final Fantasy monsters, spells, and allies – Final Fantasy II is definitely one to remember (even if its not always for good reasons).

Final Fantasy III
Four orphans discover one of the four legendary Crystals of Light while exploring a cave near their home town. They are chosen by the crystal to become Warriors of Light and to venture forth and work to return a world tilting toward Darkness back into balance. Featuring the introduction of the Job system that turns dungeons and boss fights into tactical puzzles to be solved. Final Fantasy XIV players will find a lot of familiar concepts here as many ideas – including the 2.0 Alliance Raid – were drawn directly from this title.

Final Fantasy IV
The Dark Knight, Cecil Harvey, has grown disillusioned with the horrible crimes he has been asked to commit in the name of his king and kingdom. The slaughter of the peaceful people protecting the Water Crystal is the last straw. Together with his brother-in-arms Kain Highwind, he sets forth to gather the other nations to mount a resistance against the kingdom of Baron.

Final Fantasy VII
A former elite-soldier turned mercenary joins a band of eco terrorist to save the world. Along the way, the shadow of an old threat will emerge and threaten both the world and everything the mercenary knows about himself.
Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion
Before Avalanche, before Cloud, before Final Fantasy VII… there was an up and coming SOLDIER 2nd-Class named Zach. This is HIS story.
Final Fantasy VIII
Child soldiers, love stories, angsty protagonists… This is Final Fantasy meets your typical Young Adult novel. Join Squall Leonhart as he rises up the ranks of SeeD, a mercenary company dedicated to helping win wars and hunt down witches, and Rinoa Heartily, a rebellious young woman who leads a group of freedom fighters. Together they’ll solve a mystery, and rewrite history.
Final Fantasy IX
A confluence of coincidence occurs during the annual stage performance in the city of Alexandria, when the performers are hired to kidnap Princess Garnet at the same time as Princess Garnet is trying to escape while pretending to be kidnapped. Throw in her bumbling loyal knight, and a strange black mage child and we begin a wacky adventure full of tear jerking, gut punching, and side splitting moments that form Hironobu Sakaguchi, the father of the franchise’s favorite entry.
Final Fantasy X
In the lands of Spira, the specter of death looms over everything. The monstrous fiend known as Sin ravages towns and annihilates the people. Only a summoner who completes their pilgrimage can defeat Sin and give the world a few short years of Calm before the monster returns. One such summoner, the young Yuna, is about to begin her journey when she crosses paths with a mysterious young man who claims to be from a thousand year old destroyed civilization. This is their story – and it is a tale that will forever change their world.
This playthrough was originally presented as a race between Vrykerion and Lunar Projections. The Race concluded on May 11th, 2025 with Vrykerion as the winner with a completion time of 43 Hours, 53 Minutes, and 29 Seconds.
Final Fantasy X-2
It’s been two years since Yuna and her guardians sacrificed the aeons to defeat Sin and bring forth the Eternal Calm. Now with her cousin Rikku and her new compatriot Paine, Yuna joins the group of sphere hunters known as the Gullwings to uncover a mystery surrounding a blonde ancient sports star from before the Machina War, and in the process fall into the center of a societal civil war that will determine the future of Spira.
Final Fantasy XII
Hundreds of years before the War of the Lions in Final Fantasy Tactics, the world of Ivalice was engaged in a struggle for independence against the Archadian Empire who have been seizing kingdom after kingdom. A young man named Vaan and his childhood friend Penelo find themselves wrapped up in the escapades of the pirate Balthier and his partner Fran, and the revolutionary leader Ashe as they push back against the Empire and find their own forms of freedom.
Final Fantasy XIII
A group of strangers have been declared enemies of the state after being branded as l’Cie, servants to the god-like living machines known as Fal’Cie. Do they save themselves and fulfill their god-given destiny to destroy their home or do they defy fate and choose their own path? This first installment of the Fabula Nova Crystallis is a controversial one, but remains one of my personal favorites.
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Lightning is gone. No one but her sister Serah remembers the truth what happened – almost as if reality itself had shifted. Soon after, a young man named Noel appears from the distant future to invite Serah on a quest through time and space to save Lightning and the timeline itself. Featuring similar vibes to Chrono Trigger, this continuation of the Fabula Nova Crystallis brings a fun adventure and interesting mechanics in a largely a return to form for the series after its predecessor.
Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns
Seven days. That’s all the world has left. Lightning has been chosen by Bhunivelze, God of all and creator of the Fal’Cie, to salvage souls from the world and preserve them in the Ark to be reborn in the new world that Bhunivelze is creating. In exchange for serving God, Lightning will be reunited with her loved ones. So the soldier who fought fate is now bound to the role of Messiah for a dying world. The exciting end of this trilogy introduces a more action based combat system, a time-tracking countdown with similar vibes to Majora’s Mask and a non-linear approach to tackling your various missions to save the world.
Final Fantasy XV
A band of brothers depart on one final guys night out on a cross country trip to meet Prince Noctis’ bride to be but unknowingly falls into the lap of a dastardly invasion plot and an ancient prophecy.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
A Final Fantasy game designed exclusively for the West. Released as “Final Fantasy Adventure” in Europe, and “Final Fantasy USA: Mystic Quest” in Japan. This unique adventure is one of a kind.
Final Fantasy Adventure
The Game Boy Final Fantasy spin off game released in Japan as “Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden” making it also the first installment of the Mana series (later include Secret of Mana, Legend of Mana, Sword of Mana, etc). And to add to the confusion, it was released in Europe as “Mystic Quest”. The game follows Sumo and Fuji as they attempt to stop Dark Lord and his minion… Julius… from reaching the Mana Tree and using the power of Mana to rule the world.
The Final Fantasy Legend
Unlike Final Fantasy Adventure, The Final Fantasy Legend was not a Final Fantasy spin off. It was an in fact the first entry in the SaGa series but marketed as a Final Fantasy game outside of Japan. Inspired by the tabletop game “Gamma World”, The Final Fantasy Legend features post-apocalyptic settings, futuristic technology, medieval weaponry, and psychic warfare as you climb an endless tower that connects an infinite number of worlds to literally fight and dethrone God.
